very very spaceship is a motley crew of space faring game designers, engineers and artists from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. For the past three years, under the leadership of BAFTA and Peabody winning founder Sean Vesce (Never Alone, Tomb Raider Series, Mechwarrior Series), we have been solving the problems of the unknown for incredible partners like Niantic Labs, Microsoft, Google and others. We are a tight knit group of makers thriving in our undiscovered future, making shared game experiences in AR, Geolocation, Live Streaming and more. Our current focus is developing a new geolocation game with Niantic Labs titled “Transformers: Heavy Metal”.  In addition to our client work, we collaborate on a wide variety of fun side projects like the VVS Peregrine, and our various goof games.

very very spaceship is now recruiting for a diverse expansion to our crew to support upcoming missions.  We are searching the galaxy for a Game Content Designer who will be responsible for the design, implementation, and polish of combat and its supporting gameplay experiences.  Qualified candidates are energetic self-starters, adept at managing several creative internal projects at once and handling an evolving schedule of events. Candidates are inclusive by nature and naturally motivated to support others to achieve beyond their own expectations.

As a Game Content Designer on Transformers: Heavy Metal, you will create, support and implement the combat content and supporting gameplay content for a major location based AR project.

  • Be responsible for the game’s combat content and supporting gameplay – identifying experiential and combat goals, utilizing telemetry and testing, and proposing solutions that can be implemented within the scope of our systems
  • Work with production and the design lead to deconstruct the combat design process, establishing measurable phases with specified goals
  • Create and maintain combat documentation detailing the process, standards, and content to convey necessary information to supporting teams
  • Regularly collaborate with the design lead, systems designer, and narrative designer to bring our world to life in our combat scenarios and plan for future facing content.
  • Remain current on game industry trends including new games and game genres, emerging game design methods and techniques

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant game content/combat design experience in mobile, live ops, or RPG/CCGs
  • Ability to work well in a fluid, changing environment as creative challenges evolve
  • Excellent partnership and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, passionate and opinionated about video games and video game de
  • Able to work gracefully under pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, art or related fields or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with game scripting and implementation with bespoke tools
  • Experience designing combat in an RPG or card game
  • Experience working with the Unity IDE
  • Experience in mobile games
  • Familiarity with the Transformers IP


  • We are open to fully remote, and we are also operating in a hybrid environment in our Seattle, Washington studio. Our studio space is in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.
