What is Evolution?
The theory of evolution is a branch of science that explains changes in genetic characteristics over time. The theory is based on the fact that living organisms adapt to their environment, which can result in variations in genes or entire genomes. Over the course of many generations these changes could result in the emergence of new species. Natural selection is the predominant theory of evolution. It explains how people with traits that are advantageous are more likely to reproduce and survive than those with less favorable traits. This differential reproduction can, over time, lead to the emergence and evolution of new species.
The term “evolution” originates from the Latin word for unraveling or revealing, however the concept itself has a myriad of meanings as it has taken shape in the sciences and other fields. Early evolutionists like Erasmus Darwin (Charles’s grandfather) and Jean Baptiste de Lamarck believed that species were predetermined to change into a new species. Etienne Geoffroy St.Hilaire was Lamarck’s embryologist student who invented the term “transmutation” to describe this idea. Charles Lyell, who published the second volume of his Principles of Geology in 1833 opposed this notion and borrowed the term “evolution” from Geoffroy’s student to describe the notion that species are evolving into different species in a gradual and predictable way.
More recently, evolutionary biologists have defined evolution as a process that occurs when living creatures develop characteristics that improve their chances of survival, or their ability to reproduce offspring. In time, genetic variation can cause a population to develop new physical characteristics or biological functions. Such a shift in gene frequency is called natural selection, and it drives most evolutionary change. Non-genetic changes, such as an increase in muscle mass due to exercise or diet, cannot be considered to be evolutionary because they don’t pass on to future generations.
Despite the fact that evolution has stood the tests of time and thousands of scientific studies Creationists have taken advantage of the notion that the theory is controversial and argue that it shouldn’t be taught in schools. In South Korea, creationists won a few victories over evolution in textbooks for high schools. This includes the removal of references to the evolutionary roots of humans and Archaeopteryx – a feathered dinosaur which is believed to be the bird’s ancestor.

Many people, including religious leaders, believe in the theory of evolution as a scientific fact. It is important to remember that evolutionary biology doesn’t conflict with religious beliefs as it only focuses on physical objects, events and processes.
In fact many religious people have found ways to reconcile their beliefs with evolution. Certain Christians for instance believe that God created everything through evolution and that humans have an ancestral connection to other animals.
It is important that science educators advocate for teaching evolution. In certain countries, anti-evolution sentiment has been growing. In the United States, efforts to restrict the teaching of evolution have made some progress in some states. In South Korea, a group known as the Society for Textbook Revise (STR) which is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research, is campaigning for the removal of textbook content about the evolution of horses as well as the bird ancestor Archaeopteryx.
While these are troubling developments, it is important to remember that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming. The evidence for evolution comes from a variety of sources, such as fossils, genetics, and the behavior of living creatures. The evidence is also independently verified by other scientists.

What is Creationism?
Creationists believe that God created everything in the universe. They also believe that the Bible is God’s word and should be interpreted in a literal manner. Many creationists are Christians However, not all. Creationists are generally divided into two groups: Young Earth Creationists (YEC) or old earth creationists.
YECs are the most well known type of creationist, and they believe that God created the world exactly as described in the Bible. YECs hold that the biblical account of the six days of creation is literal and that the universe as well as life on Earth were only created recently.
OECs may be less known However, their beliefs are as fierce as those of YECs. OECs believe the universe and Earth are billions-of-years old and that evolution is a lie.
Both forms of creationism deny that scientific theories such as natural selection and abiogenesis can explain the origin of life on Earth. They argue that evolution is not possible because it would require the creation of a miracle, and the founders of modern science rejected miracles out of fear of losing credibility.
Some creationists believe in naturalistic evolution and special creation, and call their view “theistic evolution.” This is also known as “continuous evolutionism” or the “evolution of created kinds.” In this theory, God creates the original species, and then allows them to change over time. Then, these evolutionary changes will produce new species that are identical to the original species.
Some creationists believe that God created all living things and the entire universe in one event known as the Great Flood. Creationists believe that all the species of the beginning were created at the same time and that they gradually evolved. They reject the idea of abiogenesis and assert that self-replicating life can’t come from nonliving matter.
In general, creationists oppose the teaching of evolution in schools. This is a position that is backed by a variety of professional organizations, including the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education as well as the American Anthropological Association, and the Geological Society of America. However, certain scientists and educational institutions are more flexible and permit the inclusion of both evolution and creationism in their curricula.
What is Creationism?

It also aims to counteract the influence of American creationists in the United States. A survey of trainees in biology revealed that a majority of them did not believe evolution. The reasons for this are not clear, but may include religious beliefs or the absence of full-time creation scientists in the country.
The KACR has accomplished a lot in the past through seminars and lectures. It publishes a bimonthly magazine called Creation and a book. One of these was an educational textbook on natural sciences with a cosmological perspective. It sparked interest in college communities. In 1991 the year 1991, a minister and professor began teaching Creation Science in one university and it is taught to this day.
On August 6 and 7, 1993, coinciding with the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six lecturers from the world, including ICR’s John Morris, Duane Gish, and Steven Austin spoke to audiences of a few thousand. KACR members and KACR have also given lectures on creation science in prestigious seminaries. KACR plans to establish a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
